It was a complete disaster. So, the 1:10hrs between Cluj and Istambul is not enough for an US flight. You guys must schedule more time so people can get to the US plane on time. The Airline is amazing, good food, good crew, great sits, but please work on this schedule because it's so exhausting to stay an additional 11 hours on the road."

Different THY employees sent me to three (3) different places (with two suitcases in hand) at opposite ends of the huge Istanbul airport before finally pointing to the Business Lounge and causing my missing the connection. Had they directed me correctly and cared about my first delay, I would not have missed it. I lost the first-night pay at the hotel of my final destination, my friends lost their time and money on making trips to pick me up, my ailing relatives were in pieces worrying about me, and so on. In sum, a fun trip (NOT!) ... If you care for some details, here you go... They did not inform their own connecting flight about my delay. Despite issuing me a boarding pass, nobody was looking for me or announcing where I should go. I spent an hour running around the airport at THY employees' misdirections. Business Lounge revealed I was already issued a ticket for next morning's flight (without informing me via my email they had or otherwise). I then looked at their own monitor and saw a much earlier flight the same night on a partner airline. I had to point to that flight, and they issued me a ticket there. No apology, no offer of any compensation. I understand that flights may delay, and I could forgive an honest mistake in misdirection. But this was a wide-spread incompetence and utter unwillingness to help their own business class (!) customer. I can only imagine what pains the economy travelers had to endure! Just to give you a flavor, after realizing that my connecting flight was boarding (when my delayed first flight arrived in Istanbul), I asked the crew to direct me to the best route to my connection. They pointed to the gate personnel. The gate personnel who greeted us DID NOT KNOW about my connection and sent me to the opposite side of the airport without notifying the connecting flight to wait for me. No help/transport was offered. When I made my way to the connecting gate with my luggage, the flight was gone. Nobody to be found from THY around the gate. A neighboring THY gate's employee directed me to the "Care Point" desk far away. A sizable line emerged there, with only two agents working it. I asked one of them if business class was served there. They said, "Yes, get in line, please". After 30 minutes in that line, I approached a "Care Point" agent (a cruel name for no-care-whatsoever service) who told me "You need to go to the business class desk upstairs. Economy only here!" No apology, no expression of concern, yelling "Next!" when I told her that I wasted 30 minutes of valuable time in line at their direction and would appreciate her doing something to help or making sure I reach the right person. Off to the "business desk" I go... another 15-min. run in a different direction with luggage in hand. That desk could not help either...ARGHH. Do I need to continue?.."

Second, Turkish Airlines (a wonderful company) must impose hygiene requirements for their passengers. I sat next to a man that had insane body odor and when I let the Flight Attendant know she kindly reseated me... It was great until I saw the poor woman who took my place ALSO asked to be reseated due to the man's smell! Unfortunately, I was reseated in the middle of the row, which apparently is by Boeing design, none of the middle seats recline. Who makes an aircraft that handles long (13 hour) hauls with seats that do not recline and are too narrow for the average adult? It was such a painful and uncomfortable 13 hour flight. To add insult to injury, the plane was delayed and I missed my connection and had to sit in Istanbul airport for almost 8 hours."

We did not realize we had to select vegetarian ahead of time, but having cheese sandwiches available made that easier. The small bag of toiletries that we were given was a very nice surprise."

Seats on the airplane were so small I could barely get in an out of them. No one to direct me at the gate in Istanbul and explain where I needed to go. Food very ordinary compared to other flights I've taken with Turkish airlines. Thought I was on a different airline flying from Istanbul to Antalya. That segment was excellent."

After 8 hours in the same position it feels like you are stuck in a coffin or a primatial medieval torture device. The seat begins to hurt your back. You can't get in a comfortable position. You can't turn left or right. There's a little foot rest that gives you 10 minutes of relief but then that gets uncomfortable. If one of the people seated in with the inner row needs to use the restroom then the whole row needs to get up. It's cruel and unusual punishment. The airline just needs to expand the rows by 6 inches. Before you go bring a neck pillow and a butt cushion. Or better yet, pick a seat located in a front section that gives you more leg room. If you have the option then this should be a higher priority over a window seat. You will thank me for this advice."

Plus the crew should tell you what kind of pasta you’re getting! I got the pasta but I didn’t know it was filled with cheese and cream but by the time they came back to me I told them that I can’t have this they didn’t have anymore left of anything so I didn’t have anything to eat. And the breakfast the next day was awful. And by the way I saw that the crew had a really good meal. I should be able to pick up meal ahead of time… When you’re booking. It was a long day with no hot meal."

I also like that there were diabetic and vegetarian meals offered, although the diabetic meals should ideally focus on lower carbohydrate totals. Fruits and breads can pack just as much sugar as sweets."
Мінуси: "Starting with the boarding area at LAX, there was some really high pitched siren that kept going off over and over which no one seemed to care to investigate or do anything about. It was very irritating, and seemed to put lots of passengers in a bad mood before the plane even started boarding. Then when they announced boarding was beginning, everyone got up and created massed around creating four chaotic lines. It was a mess. We left 45 min late, which caused us to run to make our connecting flight because the person at the gate never told us it was also going to be leaving late. The plane itself was extremely uncomfortable as well. I'm 5'8" tall and that's mostly torso. I fit easily in the back seat of my buddy's mini Cooper, and I could barely fit in the space without my legs hitting the seat in front of me. That was before the guy in front of me put his seat back and made it so I could barely reach under my seat. Then there was the control panel for my personal video monitor. The panel was located on the armrest in just the right spot where Everytime I put my hand down I accidentally pressed a button to call the flight attendant, or turn the video screen on off, which was really obnoxious when I was trying to sleep and kept accidentally turning on the bright screen which woke me up. The video monitors we're also touch compatible, but the screen was horrible about registering finger presses which led to the lady in the seat behind me smashing the screen as hard as she could repeatedly with her finger, which vibrated all the was through my headrest so I could feel it as if she were trying to get my attention. There was also no air flow above the seats... You simply had to rely on the flight attendant to set a temperature that the whole cabin enjoyed, or you had to suffer silently. Finally, the reading lights on the plane we're so high up that turning one on lit up all the seats around you as well, which meant you had to choose to either sit in the dark and not read, or turn on your light and read quietly while the people around you cursed your name while attempting to get some rest."

Плюси: "This was one of the most aggravating flights. I had a connection. Both flights were delayed and i had to run through the enormous frankfurt with my carry on cat. When i got to the next flight it was delayed 30mins and there were little updates. When i arrived in oslo i was late and so missed my connecting train. I had to wait 6 hours in the station for the next train. An exhausting and frustrating experience. There was one helpful steward on the lax frankfurt flight but the rest of the staff was not helpful."

Мінуси: "Our toddler kept pushing the call button, which was very hard to prevent. A first crew member told us to stop it without telling us how - which is quite difficult. Only the purser later helped us to find a solution by gluing something over it."

Мінуси: "The plane arrived 2 hours late, causing me to miss a train from Marseille to Nîmes, and costing me money for an extra night's hotel that I hadn't planned (Marseille), plus wasting money for the night at the hotel that I HAD planned (Nîmes), plus the cost of having to purchase an additional train ticket for the following morning. The $7 voucher at the airport was nice, but honestly doesn't come close to making up for the cost and inconvenience."
Мінуси: "We booked our group of four with Lufthansa, paying $300 more than equivalent flights on competing airlines, specifically because our 20 month old daughter fits within Lufthansa's age, height, and weight limits for using the bassinet. We have reserved our tickets and the bassinet over two months in advance, paying $35 extra per seat for these reservations, and even got an email that specifically stated "bassinet confirmed". On the flight, when it came time to install the bassinets, the flight attendant came to us, took a look at our daughter, and said that she will not fit in the bassinet, that she is too tall, and too heavy, and suggested that we should have checked the limits for the bassinet before coming on the flight. When we inquired as to the actual limits, she could not provide any numbers, only said that she could see that our daughter is too big for it. When the family next to us got their bassinet, it became very obvious that our daughter would fit in the bassinet, and we pointed out that she was well below the height and weight limits published on the Lufthansa website. Only then did the flight attendant admit that there were other babies on the flight, and they only had four bassinets on the plane, despite having 11 slots where bassinets could be installed. Our reservation months in advance did not matter - we did not get the bassinet. As compensation, we were offered some Lufthansa miles, or 50 euros for in-flight duty free shopping. However, we lost close to 1000 dollars as a group when we chose to fly Lufthansa rather than a less expensive airline. We were very uncomfortable throughout the flight, having to hold my daughter in my arms for over five hours. We are are still very upset that the crew blatantly lied to us."

And everytime one them passes by, they will knock me awake. I was extremely tired and tried hard to sleep yet they kept waking me up every time one of them passes by, no matter how skinny they were! Totally unprofessional."

Мінуси: "The gate was older, not well appointed and far from shops and better dining. We lined up only to be taken on a very long shuttle ride to the plane. I have had this experience before but in this case the planes location was virtually on the other side of the terminal. By the time all were boarded, the plane was late by about 15 minutes to takeoff, and we experienced more delay after that so that on arrival we were an hour delayed. Many missed connections in Vienna as a result. Crew seemed tense and on edge."

Плюси: "Nothing, we never got to go on our flight to Vienna. The only good thing is the manager, Servando, found us an alternative route after some delay. Even then, we had to haggle and really fight for fair treatment for a mistake that was 100% the airline's fault."
Мінуси: "Our seats were involuntarily given away by the airport staff. We were never notified until we were scanning our tickets to board in. At that time, we had already checked in and received our boarding passes, as well as checking in 3 bags while we were traveling with a large group. There was no way we wanted to volunteer our seats, especially since we had a transfer flight to catch. We clearly stated we did NOT want to volunteer our seats at the ticket counter. No staff notified us until we were about to get on the plane to board. The flight supervisor was very rude and unprofessional, offering us no alternative solutions. I was really disappointed with such a grievous mistake by the airline, and I would not recommend flying Austrian Airlines unless it was absolutely the only airline available. They need to fix their processes for authorizing when they volunteer a passenger's seat. This caused our group a lot of stress and almost became a logistical nightmare."

Мінуси: "Aircraft was older 777 and lavatories weren't very clean. Upon landing in Vienna, my mobility walker (tagged to be brought up to me at jetway) was sent to my connecting flight to Sophia. The flight crew refused to intercept it and have it brought up to me at the aircraft. To make matters much, much worse, the flight crew eventually gave up and left, leaving me LOCKED inside the jetway for over 30 minutes after calling for a wheelchair. The replentishment crew refused to let me out of the locked jetway. Only after the wheelchair arrived was I let out of the locked jetway. I was taken to the Austrian Airlines service center where I lodged a formal complaint. Supervisor/Rene refused to upgrade my seat in any fashion to compensate for my distress. He did, however, arrange for me to given access to the VIP lounge and then taken to my VIE-SOF gate. Had I had a shorter layover, I would have missed my connecting flight."
Мінуси: "It took us 2 tries to get there due to weather and they had us waiting in the airport for 12 hours in the middle of the night. We first flew to Lviv and then they turned the plane around and came back as we were landing. I appreciate that they did this for safety reasons. When we got back however at 2:30am, they did not provide us with a hotel and just gave us blankets and pillows to sleep in the airport. They also offered us only a piece of bread with ham and cheese and a coffee for the next 12 hours until the new flight left. Not a pleasant experience."

I weight 62kg and was sitting in a middle seat. Next time I'll have to get an upgrade."
