When I booked my flight I deliberately chose not to check any luggage, spent time planning what to take so that it would fit in a carryon bag, and measured out my liquids into small bottles so that they passed the liquids restrictions: all effort and time spent in vain due to Wizz Air. I was furious!"

The gate representative, Rose is her name, seemed like just a sales person, she didnt even care what i said, and said “ its your fault and tour responsibility “. “Please pay or you wont be able to board” she said. Yes, like a bully, demanded for money, or else.... Worst service i had ever experienced in my 16 years of traveling."

You can choose prior to the 48hrs at cost (i was never given option on a 3rd party site when i booked!) Checking in should be longer than 3 hrs! Because if you book a exec lounge which is air side you lose 1.5 hrs as a minimum in the process of checking in luggage and security checks. The first time I traveled on the airline to Kiev, they let me bring on my carry-on bag and didn't weight it or seem to care. When I booked them to leave Kiev for Dusseldorf, however, things were a bit different. I brought my usual carry-on (weighing around 13kg) through the various security checks, and sat with it at the gate. At the last possible moment when we're about to board the bus for the plane, they motion me to come to the desk and say, "You can't take that bag. It's over 7kg." 7kg! This unusually low carry-on limit is not specified on the ticket when I purchased it, on the boarding pass, or on any other easily visible document. Only when you click on the "baggage limits" link on the boarding pass and reading it carefully do you figure out that your carry-on has to be super light. At the gate, they pulled out a hand-held hook scale, weighed my bag, and declared it overweight without even telling me how much it weighed, then demanded that I cough up 66 euro (USD$77) or miss my flight. There were several elderly people on the flight who did not have cash or credit card and were distraught and publicly wailing because this was the first they had heard about needing to purchase luggage fees. It is possible that in their documentation UIA do mention the limits and fees, so what they do may be indeed legal. However, there are deceptive practices happening here, as this has never happened to me in decades of travel. I have never seen this many distressed elderly passengers. What UIA did was pure and simple theft. Word to the wise: if you buy from Kayak or any other third-party operator, go into the site of the vendor of origin (in this case UIA), figure out their baggage rules and pay for extra baggage 24hrs before the flight. Either that, or fly a more user-friendly airline."

There were movies playing on the screen but the subtitles were in Chinese, when majority of the passengers were American or Eastern European."

You were unable to get a voucher for an overnight hotel unless you are willing to stand in that line at 2 a.m. Ultimately, I had a cab got my own hotel and paid for another flight on another airline to get to my Final Destination the next day. I would consider Ukraine air in middle of the road airline with a customer service if things go wrong to be quite poor."

On both departure and return trips, flights were delayed. On our departure, this led to us not being allowed to go to our connecting flight (even though there was some time remaining and we had only carry-on luggage, but they didn't seem to understand that), and on our return we nearly missed our connecting flight, except for the fact that it, too, was delayed. On one fairly long flight, no refreshments were offered except for purchase, but there was no menu or price list provided, and the service took a very long time. The weight limit for carry-on baggage was different (less) for the return than for the departure. And so on. UIA simply doesn't seem to have its act together. Also, for our own case, our flights took longer than necessary due to UIA having to fly *around* Russia, rather than take a correct route that would go *over* Russia. While I'm sure they can't help this, it is a factor worth considering depending on your route. Overall, I can't recommend UIA. In the future, I will be taking other airlines even if it means spending a significant amount more."

I had to take things out of carry on and put into the bag that I had to pay for to put under the plane. It should be inclusive, or price shown with or without under the plane bag. The bag empty weighs almost 5 kilos, should be at least 10 kilos. 5.) much improvement is suggested, but not enough other choices."
